Over the past 24 hours or so, rumors have been flying left and right involving the Red Wings.

Most notably is that of a trade between the Thrashers, involving Hossa coming to Detroit for Filppula ( and most likely others). The whole Facebook scandal brought rising to this. As a Facebook profile of Filppula that seemed legit, Filppula (assumingly him) changed his status to “traded to Atlanta” and added t hanks to his profile for all the Detroit fans. Later his profile was deleted, then reopened, with his status cleared but his dating status changed to single.

Since then, rumors of this trade has been reported, from guys such as Bill Watters. To spice up these rumblings, Matt Ellis has been reported to been placed on waivers, as per Bruce MacLeod and Eklund.

The trade essentially makes sense, as Holland has repeatedly said he would not be giving up future assets for a deadline rental again. Hossa wants to resign with a team that will be a contender now and in the future. Detroit is just that kind of team.

No reports on what else Detroit would be sending Atlanta’s way, but Filppula alone won’t bring in Hossa.
