Now take it for what it is, nothing is official yet. However this story has been going on for quite a while now.

McCarty now has 4 goals and 3 assists in 6 games with the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins.

I can’t think of anything that would put more people in the seats of The Joe than cheaper tickets, and the return of Darren McCarty (1 of 2 have already taken place).

It can’t really hurt the team, if McCarty doesn’t do well he just won’t play. With the injury bug really biting the Wings right now, depth really helps out. He’d be a great asset to have against bigger teams like Anaheim or San Jose. The way I look at it is, McCarty can rotate with Dallas Drake, possibly even take his place if he outplays Drake.
