An exciting day for me

I really don’t have any “I think the Canes are going to trade…” posts, because I really doubt there will be any more trading for the Canes right now.

I did have a really exciting Canes-related day though. I went to practice this morning because I had the day off. Speaking of for all you fans out there…what are the rules for practices being open for other teams?

Anyway, I always find it really interesting to watch practices and then see how we do (or don’t) put what they practice into the game. Today it was lots of powerplay practice as well as odd-man rushes. They practiced getting to the rush off the bench which should come in handy tomorrow for the Caps game.

That is not the important part. I got the Canes’ team yearbook and took it today so I could have each of the players sign their pages. Well, I printed out a picture of Samsonov and of Corvo since they weren’t in it…and after some modification they were in the book and JG was out. So yes, I met Joe Corvo, Sergei Samsonov and Wade Brookbank today! I’ve loved Joe even when he was with Ottawa and was praying he would get traded here, even though I didn’t think it would happen. Sergei, well he is just been a beast for us and has found new life with this team. And Brooks….well…you have to love a guy who sticks up for the other guys on a nightly basis. I was surprised at how quiet and shy he seemed though since he is so tough on the ice, but I was stoked to have him sign my yearbook!

It also reminded me how lucky I am to live in a city where seeing my favorite hockey players is so easy. Unlike some places where the players have celeb status, here in Raleigh they are just very approachable and it’s great. How awesome is it that I have talked to the NHL ‘08 coverboy several times before like it’s nothing. I consider myself a very lucky fan.

Was Sergei the bitch he was here in Montreal.

You are one lucky person, damn, I wish I could meet some Habs too. :)

Heck no! Sergei was so nice. He must have not been a fan of French-Canadians because he has been awesome to us fans, and for our team.
