Short, but sweet?

Suddenly things don’t look so good in Pittsburgh. Not only did Ty Conklin look like the goalie of old, getting pulled after letting in three goals on 13 shots, but they lost their new star winger, Marian Hossa, to a MCL sprain.

Hossa's new colours Hossa, 29, was acquired in a trade with the Atlanta Thrashers, along with Pascal Dupuis, in exchange for Colby Armstrong, Erik Christensen, prospect Angelo Esposito and a first round draft pick. Atlanta was unable to re-sign the UFA sniper.

During the second period of the Bruins - Penguins game, Hossa collided knee-on-knee with Glen Murray. He left the game and did not return. The Penguins believe he will be out for a week, but will update his status later today.

    LOL.

Nice, Ray Shero’s hair must be turning gray right now.

It’s ok, Hossa will be healthy enough to sign with Montreal in the offseason. :p

Yeah, I can’t help but to laugh … I love Hoss to pieces, but this is just hilarious. Sorry Pens fans.

Yes it is, and I like Hossa as well.

But in the end, Pittsburgh didn’t give up THAT much for Hossa.

Esposito might never be an NHL player.
Armstrong was a borderline goon/3rd liner.
Christensen is the centerpiece of the trade, good potential, good hands.
1st round pick: price to pay.

In the end Pittsburgh didn’t massively overpay like everyone says they did, but if Hossa doesn’t re-sign, that’s another story.

Hossa won’t re-sign with the Penguins, I think that’s a given. But that’s still a pretty big price for a 1.5-period rental (if he dosen’t come back). It was the same knee he’s had surgery on in the past.

edit: especially since they got him for a playoff run, but if Conklin continues his play from last night … they’re in trouble.

That’s an exorbitant price for a guy who might just play 1 game with Pittsburgh and not come back.
