Notes: Richards + beer/havoc, Selke, AHL overtime, McConnell, Theodore…

Some interesting notes heading into Saturday night…

Mike Richards gets beer spilled on him…
Mike Richards had beer dumped on him when he was in the penalty box in the final moments of the third period. I still haven’t seen an occurrence of that happening since I’ve been covering the team. Flyers fans may be intimidating, but respectfully, they don’t cross the line.
-John Boruk

This quote basically sums what happened, and Korduk can take a hike if he thinks Flyers fans don’t cross the line.
If he’s reffering to the little destruction some hooligans (who weren’t even Habs fans) caused after Montreal’s Game 7 beating of the Bruins on Monday then he obviously doesn’t know what their real motives were.
People planned this for a while, went into downtown and caused havoc, using the Montreal win as a pretense to do such things.
As for Richards, he had a dirty knee-on-knee in the final minute of the 3rd period, ultimately leading to Montreal’s game tying goal by Alex Kovalev…so why is this “crossing” the line Mr Boruk when Flyers fan themselves told Alex Ovechkin to f*** off in unison during the Caps-Flyers series…

Selke nominees
Pavel Datsyuk (Red Wings), Henrik Zetterberg (Red Wings), John Madden (Devils)
I like Madden in this one.

AHL game goes 5 overtimes!
The Albany River Rats and Philadelphia Phantoms (Hurricanes and Flyers minor league teams, respectively) played nearly 6 hours of hockey on Thursday night, and what a game it was, certainly for Albany’s Mike Leighton, who made a record-setting 98 saves out of 101 in a 3-2 loss to Philly, courtesy of the Phantoms’ Ryan Potulny.
Some more tidbits on this one here.

Jackets owner McConnell passes
Story at the Columbus Dispatch.
His biography at Wikipedia.
RIP.

Jose Theodore…
…got pulled for the 2nd straight time today vs the Red Wings, in a 5-1 mauling to the hands of Detroit.
Theodore allowed 4 goals on 16 shots in Game 1 before letting Peter Budaj take charge, and make 20 saves, while he made 16 out of 20 today.
Jose has a good reputation for being a 1st round ‘tender, and beyond that, there hasn’t been much.

I realize this was a quick post, but the Habs are on against Philly now, so, gotta take time and watch that now. :D

Boruk needs to check the Philly fans first. The owner of the Capitals and his family were treated to Philly hospitality during Game 6 of the Caps/Philly series. Fans berated him throught the game and dumped beer on his kids in the third period. Talk about calling the kettle black. Philly fans have trampled the line over and over again.

So, you delete the comment supporting the Flyers but allow the comment that actually has no credible sources and is merely a fabrication of an egotistical owner who still doesn’t realize that bitching will not bring back game 7? The same owner who said his team proved they were faster and stronger after losing the first overtime game of the series? It’s funny, because even through his homer glasses he’s still a more credible source than you. And any idiot knows Richards’ hit was not knee-to-knee. It saddens me to think that you might get paid to write this shit shite.

Hey! You talked about Leights, yay!
It’s not many times your goalie makes 98 saves and you STILL lose.
