The Top 10 Moments of the Playoffs So Far
Its been a while since I’ve done a youtube top 10. So here is another one. For people going “OMG DON’T START AT #1!!!!”, its a non-sequential top 10.
- The Patrick Thoresen incident - Thoresen went down to block a shot against the Washington Capitals, and got hit in the midsection. Initially doctors considered the possiblity of having to remove a testicle, but in the end it was not neccessary.
- Sean Avery’s Creative Screening - The Brodeur/Avery rivalry is nothing new, but Sean brought it to a whole new level 3 weeks ago, waving his stick in front of Brodeur’s face while having his back to a play. Since the incident the NHL has made a rule to prevent it from ever happening again.
- Fatso Forgot To Shake His Hand - But obviously the Brodeur/Avery situation ended just fine, right? They shook hands and made up? Nope. Brodeur refused to shake Avery’s hand, leading to the quote of the playoffs.
- Carey Price’s behind the back save - Wasn’t really a save, but still amazing and stopped an easy chance at an open net goal.
- Dan Ellis’s Folly - The goalie the Onion once reported to be “living in his own net” obviously didn’t know his home too well, letting in a goal from center ice courtesy of Nicklas Lidstrom.
- Montreal Riots - Well, this really wasn’t entirely hockey related, But hockey was blamed. After the game 7 win against the bruins, Montreal citizens tore up the city. Most seemed to be people who just wanted to smash things, celebrations that clearly had Canadiens fans were rather peaceful.
- Zetterberg’s Awesome Goal - While being hauled down, the Big Z scores a backhanded one timer that could be the goal of the playoffs.
- Nabokov’s Save of the Decade - Whenever I watch it I keep thinking this was the game winner.
- Turco’s Reply - Turco replied minutes later in the 4OT game 6 vs. the Sharks with the 2nd best save of the year. Yes, this game was a goalie battle.
- Brendan Morrow’s hit on Michalek - Getting Michalek out of the game with an amazing legal hit, the Stars had significantly weakened the Shark’s offense just before overtime. We might have seen a game 7 without this hit.
Hopefully the next two rounds can bring us another 10 amazing moments!
