CBC to drop HNIC theme?
Is it done?
Is the theme that defined hockey for the past 40 years or so on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s Hockey In Canada program run its course?
According to the Toronto Star, the jingle that is familiar to your average to avid hockey fan might’ve been heard for the last time during the intro to last night’s Game 6 Penguins-Red Wings matchup, that rightfully saw the Wings capture the revered trophy we all know as Lord Stanley’s Cup.
This would be devastating news to any hockey fan, as the theme we all hum during playoff season and whenever the Leafs host the Habs on a wintery Saturday night is most likely done.
The article has all the details, the replacement for the theme is interesting…the CBC plans to host a “submit your entry” type contest to see what they could garner and use as the next intro for HNIC, should the agreement to license the theme not take place.

They better not.
