It was announced today that CTV Media has acquired all rights to ‘The Hockey Theme’, otherwise known as CBC’s long living Hockey Night In Canada song, preserving the song’s legacy and ensuring it will be heard on national television for years to come.

In other words, the theme will likely be played during hockey broadcasts on TSN and RDS, as well as during the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

I must say, it’s sad to see the song leave Canada’s broadcasting corp, but on the other hand, I’m glad it will live on.

Hopefully I’ll hear it before every Habs game on le Reseau Des Sports this year…
