Flyers Giroux makes QMJHL All-Star team

I, personally, Love the kid to death. He’s an Ottawa native, and made his NHL debut against the Ottawa Senators. In his debut game, he seemed to fit right in. Next year the chances are he’ll be on the big squad, and he deserves it.

Also, congrats to Kevin Marshall.

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League on Monday announced its All-Star teams, which featured two Philadelphia Flyers prospects. Forward Claude Giroux was named as a first-team All-Star, while defenseman Kevin Marshall was a second-team All-Star.

With Philly holding on to 8th, Every team looking in from the outside will be pushing hard. Flyers will need to turn it around and come out with effort and heart. The team that was against Atlanta a few nights ago wasn’t the 07-08 team we’ve seen this year.

The Flyers will need to pull up there socks and compete.

Roloson wants out of Edmonton

Oilers goalie Dwayne Roloson apparently wants out of Edmonton.

I think he deserves way better. He is pretty old, but still can play 30-50 games.

Vandermeer traded to Calgary

Today, the Philadelphia Flyers traded D Jim Vandermeer to the Calgary Flames in return for a third-round draft pick in 2009.

Vandermeer put up 6 points in 28 games with the Flyers this season.

NHL Considering “One-Minute” Overtime Penalties?

That was one of the many issues discussed Monday as the NHL’s 30 GMs broke out into four different groups to tackle a number of subjects. One GM that is for this change, is one Brian Burke.
“One-minute penalties in overtime just makes so much sense,” Burke said Monday

Alot of us in the “hockey world” should be all for it. It increases the level of intensity of the game. Some people will make the argument that changing hockey’s “traditions” are wrong. They said the same about the shootouts.

Here’s what the Commissioner of the National Hockey League, Gary Bettman, Had to say:

“It’s not something that I’ve ever had any reason to believe that the Players’ Association or the players would ever agree to”.

Kaberle to Flyers NOT happening.

What a rollercoaster it has been, these last 3 hours.

And it all started with Bruce Garrioch’s article.

He reported that a deal could be in the works sending Leafs defenseman Tomas Kaberle to Philly.

After three hours of listening to countless radio stations, an Ottawa station titled “Team 1200″ reported that Kaberle’s agent had turned down that rumor.

Also stating, that Tomas wasn’t going anywhere. But if it were to happen, who would’ve gone to the Leafs?

As all of us Flyer fans wait for something to save us from our 7 game losing streak, we can just hope that Homer is doing SOMETHING over in Florida.
